Lusterware Bowl Sherd with Two Peacocks

Title

Lusterware Bowl Sherd with Two Peacocks

Subject

11century, Fatimid, GodBa, Egyptian, Peacock, GodBennu, ceramic, spiritual figures

Description

11th century Lusterware bowl sherd with two painted peacocks from the Fatimid Era. Most like from Africa, this sherd is light blue with painted peacocks and other ambiguous patterns in brown/red paint. Given its detail, the sherd probably was not for daily use, but used on special occasions or just for display.
